Where are you in the spectrum of Digital Maturity?

The
Fourth Industrial Revolution is described as a range of new technologies that
are fusing the physical, digital and biological worlds, and impacting all
disciplines, economies, and industries. A
few years ago, digital transformation, as it related to business, was defined
as consumer-facing mobile apps, adaptive responsive websites, and point of purchase
experiences that were all customer-focused.
Today, with the world becoming more digitally connected through the Internet of Things (IOT), the progression will transform the way every business operates.
As daunting as this sounds, this monumental change is rich with opportunity, so organizations must evolve to address the changing business landscape in order to survive and prosper.
It is impossible to attain long term business success without leveraging the benefits of information technology in this digital age. Companies have to bear a reasonable cost to achieve this success because using an innovative approach in business strategy, employing highly trained IT professionals and making the right decisions at the right time are the prerequisites of business success. The majority of businesses are only beginning their digital transformation but the speed at which businesses are reacting to and executing a strategic digital plan differ dramatically.
Nearly half of the enterprises today are reluctant to embrace this new way of business and are at serious risk of being left behind. While it is not essential to be in the top 5% as Digital Leaders, you shouldn’t be associated with nearly half of the group including the Digital Laggards and Digital Followers. Most of the opportunity sits squarely in the middle with those identified as Digital Evaluators and Digital Adopters. The Evaluators are contemplating change and assessing the opportunities, while the Adopters who are more digitally mature, recognize the value, have a plan and are investing in technology. These two groups, along with the Digital Leaders, have extended their digital strategy from the IT department to the Boardroom.
The opportunity is, and will continue to be, massive but the time to act is now! Businesses of every kind still have a chance to leap ahead. Change, if embraced correctly, can open a world of opportunity.
There’s a cost and a risk to not getting involved.
Only 22% of CEOs are taking “digital to the core” where products and services change with new digital capabilities.
Companies need to carefully tread the path towards digital transformation with a concrete strategy to harness its strengths and mitigate its challenges.
